The present list was designed with the purpose of standardization and dissemination of data collection in Africa. The reasons behind its compilation, as claimed by the authors, include the lack of a standard format among the existing African wordlists, their insufficient size for a proper comparative analysis, as well as conceptual specificity. The given list is, therefore, intended to offer a format for these data. It consists of 1700 lexical items in English and French, arranged into twelve semantic categories, from more concrete concepts, related to human domains, to more abstract concepts, related to non-human domains.
